How do I really know if it is time for a new pillow? Do I have the perfect pillow for me?
So we have designed a simple questionnaire to see how your exciting pillow shapes up and a simple sleeping test to see if the pillow you are using now is the perfect pillow for you.
Is your Pillow older than two years?
Do you feel pressure on your shoulder if you lying on your side?
Do you tend to sleep with your hand or arm under the pillow?
Do you try and bunch your pillow up into your neck?
Do you wake with neck, shoulder or back pain?
Does your partner complain how much you toss and turn during the night?
Do you wake up feeling unrested?
If you ticked more than three of these questions? It's time for a new pillow
Try these two simple tests to see if you have the perfect pillow
If you sleep on your side.
Lie on your bed in your normal sleeping position but now fold your arms across your chest, using your existing pillow.-
Both of these positions will cause you to roll your shoulders forwards or backwards and hence you will start tossing from side to side to relieve pressure on your shoulder, neck and back, thus interrupting your sleeping pattern.
If you sleep on your back
Lie on your bed in your normal sleeping position. Place both your hands under your pillow just about where your neck normally rests on the pillow.
Does that extra lift or support make your neck and shoulder muscle relax a bit more and feel more comfortable?
This means that for a back sleeper your pillow is not giving you enough support which will force you to wake up with stiff neck and shoulder muscles.
