Considering how much time we spend sleeping, no one teaches us how to sleep correctly. Here are few handy hints about how
to sleep. There are only two correct ways to sleep in order to allow your body to rest: on your side or on your back.
Sleeping on your stomach will just cause continual neck and shoulder problems.
It’s best to understand how you sleep - on your side or on your back - and build a sleeping pattern and sleeping
comfort around that position.
At Pillows Made to Measure we say that if you spend up to 60-70% of your time sleeping in one
position, your pillow needs to support that position and remember, no one pillow will work for both positions.
At Pillows Made to Measure your pillow is made especially to suit your preferred sleeping position giving you the
perfect combination of support and comfort.
Side sleeping
To help relieve pressure on your neck, back and shoulders, you should learn to sleep on your side with the leg that is on
the bed bent up towards your body, and the top leg either straight or also bent towards your body. Your top arm, or hand
should touch the thigh that’s bent towards your body, and your arm on the bed should touch the top arm between your elbow
and shoulder, or hug a small pillow on your chest.

This position stops you twisting your lower back and neck. Furthermore, when balanced with a pillow that supports your
neck, it’s the optimum position to allow your body to relax and revitalise. It's not that hard! Try it and wake up and feel
the difference.
Stomach Sleeper
Sleeping on your stomach with your hands up or down, with a small pillow or no pillow, or all of these positions will
cause you problems. Sleeping on your stomach or twisted partially onto your stomach causes approximately one third of all
ongoing back problems.

Back Sleeper
Sleeping on your back is the next best option as long as the pillow does not force your neck forward. You should also keep
your arms down by your side or across your chest. Sleeping with your hands above your head is not going to allow your large
neck muscles to relax.
